Since I just restarted the blog I'll explain in more detail.
"Farben Liste" aka color list, is just a list of wonderful things in the world.
Since I'm not naturally such an optimist, it's here to remind everyone once a week that there are a great many wonderful and small things that make me very happy (and should make you happy!) The idea is based on Gala Darling's "I Love Thursdays" (if you havent read her blog, its fabulous. Go visit her blog: http://galadarling.com/ when you're done here)
So this week's winners for the Farben Liste?
1. Red : Texts from Brendan on Monday when I was having a crap day. it's nice to know people like you care so much. I adore you too bmels.
2. Orange : Matthew Chisling being my Imported Canadian Prom date and being so entertaining. And leaving me cute messages in my notebook. and being generally fabulous. You're so great!
3. Yellow : Bavarian French Toast from the S&S Deli in Inman Square. And the girl who always comes with me to eat it there. SO yum!
4. Green : The drawing of a statue-esque African woman by Jess that I won from the Art Auction. I cant wait until I have it framed and can add it to my wall. Maybe it will even join me in the castle!
5. Blue : My Graduation Dress. Again today I was told by a lady in the BBN office who I really respect that she loved my dress. I guess going by the beat of my own drum is way better than trying to fake my personality in a plain white dress, no?
6. Indigo : Postcards. I love them. Because it really means that someone cares about you and is thinking of you while they are not home. I have a few sitting on my desk right now, and they smile at me whenever they fall on the floor and flash their messages. I have one from Greece (Patrick), one from Switzerland (Tuomas...unsigned and mysterious), one from Harvard Square with a sweet paisley print (a year end note from Sarah) and one from California (from Grampy). I love love love them. I think I'll wall paper my house with them someday. Thanks guys!
7. Purple : Playing board games with Sam and my brother on our day off from festivities. Even though I got my ass kicked at Monopoly, I skipped Risk to finish planning out our Eurotrip (HOLY CRAP IT'S NEXT WEEK!) and I practically dominated the ENTIRE series of card games...which I guess makes me the president (we played presidents, that wasn't an ego trip)
8. Pink : (though this is a joke of a pink color. I sadly dont have a proper Pink option) The adorable wrapping job my German teacher's kids did on the gift she gave me for graduation! I now have a Deutsche Tatsachen that was covered in bright pink paper with 4 different kinds of ribbon. Even as I was crying it made me smile.
9. Brown : (an under appriciated color I might add) Ali Battat. Enough Said.
10. Black : The way that teachers at BBN knew my name even though I had never really talked to them. I was so honored. It was hard to say goodbye to Ms. Cranston (my advisor for the past 3 years), Ms. Mac, Mme Tournier and Ms. Marino, who are among my absolute favorite teachers at the Upper School. And I finally saw my old Middle School teachers too! Like Ms. Svatek and Mr. Sarzana. It was a really great time. Everyone was so supportive and wonderful that I really couldnt stop the tears from coming. I think it probably started when Mr. Bryant, a man I have always respected but never been able to talk to until this spring, told me that he would be looking for me in the paper in 10 years because he thought I was going to change the world. Yup. That was probably the point where my throat closed up and I needed Bee to fan me between hugs and handshakes.
Please feel free to send me your own suggestions for kick ass color list worthy ideas.
There will be a second one next week.
Love
