So the blog is back again this summer because I will be in Hidalgo, Mexico doing the following:
Students will spend part of their time in the state of Hidalgo in the rural community of Huixcazdhá, an isolated village that has seen its quality of life improve dramatically as a result of sustained attention to nutrition, sanitation, and public health. An innovative plant for the processing of amaranth, a protein-rich grain, provides economic opportunity to the inhabitants of this disadvantaged region, and a new Community Learning Center operated by the Tec de Monterrey offers training in practical skills to both adults and children in this small town. SIPSD partipants will be able to offer instruction at the Community Learning Center and to become familiar with the amaranth processing plant and other local community improvement projects.
Participants will also have the opportunity to work with mentally challenged children in the state capital, Pachuca, at "Crececamp," a summer program run by the local campus of the Tec de Monterrey, and to address housing needs through the "Tecnohousing" programs, through which low-cost housing is provided to needy families.

I was originally going to Michoacan to develop a public health sector, but given recent security threats etc. I have switched locations. It will be awesome!
So right now I'm sitting in Thwaites' room watching him pack and talking about the track team banquet. I went to New York with Annie this morning, and we wandered around the city for a few hours before coming back here. I came back to find lots of cleaning that needed to be done in my now empty suite, but it happened and all is well. Luckily Alex was there to help me out. Thwaites nearly wiped out right now while trying to carry out his boxes because the Chinh-Matt room looks like someone tried to have a yard sale but then gave up an threw things everywhere instead. He is also in his black running shorts and a red bandana looking slightly crazy. Wonderful, no? It's very amusing.
Sorry that this has been such a random post. My mind is going in roughly 18 different directions. I will be home tomorrow around 3 if my mother is not late... which she will be so don't hold me to that. I'm going to sleep for 3 days and then wander around my beloved Boston until I leave on May 30th for the D.F.
So I will end this before it gets too much worse. I'll write something more interesting and coherent when I am home tomorrow. xx
