Out on Old Campus

Hey guys! I've been here for a week and can I just tell you how much I love yale? it kicks so much ass. We started the shopping period for classes on wednesday which means that we can visit any class we are thinking of taking and sit in or leave whenever we want and we don't have to finalize our schedules until next friday. So I have visited a portuguese freshman seminar that I was accepted into but was not thrilled by, German, Intro to Political Philosophy, I think I'm going to audit a class on the Cold War taught by John Gaddis (as in, the guy who did all the documentation of the cold war), Microeconomic analysis, and Russian Culture in the Modern World. I'm supposed to narrow that down to 4 classes, which I dont think will be too hard for this term since I was to have the foundations of basic political and economic systems before I start taking the really interesting seminars. Thats not to say that my classes dont rock, cause they are all pretty cool in one way or another. Now I have to figure out what kinds of extra curriculars I want to do...maddness.

I have to check out La Casa Latina still, but I think I'm going to pay a visit in a few days. The people actually rock and I have met more people than I can handle. I feel really bad not remembering names and faces, but my harvest friends and I have stayed really close. Mary has AWESOME roommates who I love to chill with, Tony has some cool friends, and I run into old friends all the time. Mostly Miles is always lurking around and Daniel and I are in the same intro poliphilo class. Woo. We actually had to spent a fortune on books and we were commiserating about the 14 books we will be reading for the class this term. But its going to rock!

Thursday nights are when the party starts here, but I had early morning language class so it was library party with Mary for me. There was actually no one there, but good times. Especially since I was done with class by 10:30 and I just chilled out and did laundry until people were ready to get lunch with me. and then last night I ate with my roommates in silliman which looks like a combo of slitheren and harvard...but it was still really pretty. We hung out with loads of people, but the best part of the evening was chilling in Ldub with arturo (or farty arty as mary calls him), Jeff, Julia, Nina and Mary eating mac and cheese from my tea pot, and some raw cookie dough. Chilling and playing who wants to be a millionaire on Arturo's phone. oh that and laughing at my id card...ooooh dear me. It ended up being a slumber party with the futon on our floor. And it kinda looked like a hurricane when I got up this morning. There were cheese encrusted forks, abandoned wrappers and cheese from Jeff's cheese eating fun... i spent a while bent over the sketchy sink in B33 washing stuff. and cleaning. but so worth it.

So basically we all died in the room around 4. At some point arturo left, and then I heard Julia on the phone with her mom and she left, but that was at 9:30 and I was not really alive then... I actually woke up around 10:30 when Matt called, promising to tell me stuff about his mysterious disappearence last night and he wanted to get breakfast so I dragged my dead corpse out of my top bunk and went down stairs. All the while he was sending me whining texts about how long I was taking. But it worked out. Commons was closed, and so was Calhoun and Trumbull while we were wandering. We decided on Au Bon pain and had an interesting conversation before we went to meet other people for brunch. Or actually matt ditched us for an extended quest to buy his books. So I ate with Lindsey, Mary, Ellie and TONY!!!

We decided that since the weather is rocking we would sit outside (where i am now) on a blanket and chat/do some homework for classes that we know we are taking, but mostly we are taling and trying not to get hit by the people throwing frisbees around us. And talking about how tired we are... It was a good evening. I have such a cool group of friends already :) soooo fab! I'm pulling for a movie night and chinese food but we'll see what happens. Arturo has an awesome suit in davenport and we might watch Planet Earth with him again tonight. I love having these weird conversations with my friends about the animals that we love...basically penguins. and then changing it up and talking about something really intense like Ayn Rand, death, economics... it just rocks.

I tried the cake at Claire's this week and it's to die for, we worked out at Payne Whitney with a group of people to avoid being intimidated by all the super athletes, we danced in a princess suite, we are currently having photos taken of us studying by asian tour groups... and now Matt is back to sit with us. So peace.

Call me.
I miss you all.
